Is Your Tuna Safe and Healthy for your Cat?Updated 14 days ago
You want the best for your feline friend, and when it comes to fish, safety is naturally a top concern – especially with tuna! At Untamed, we go above and beyond to ensure our tuna recipes are not only delicious but also incredibly safe and healthy for your beloved cat.
Here's why you can feel confident feeding your cat Untamed tuna:
Exclusively Skipjack & Bonito Tuna
Unlike some other cat food brands, we are very particular about the type of tuna we use. We only ever source Skipjack and Bonito tuna. Why these specific types? They are smaller, faster-growing breeds that reach maturity very early (around 18 months). This means they simply don't spend enough time in the ocean to accumulate significant levels of heavy metals like mercury, which can be a concern with larger, longer-lived tuna species such as Albacore, Bluefin, or Yellowfin.
Rigorous Mercury Testing
Your cat's health is our top priority. That's why we don't just rely on the type of tuna – we also conduct regular batch testing on all our fish-based recipes specifically for mercury levels. We're proud to say that all our food consistently more than exceeds the strict safety guidelines set by FEDIAF (the European Pet Food Industry Federation).
We take the safety and quality of our fish incredibly seriously. In fact, we feed Untamed to all our own cats too! So, you can be sure your feline companion is getting a delicious and safe meal with every bite of our tuna. 🐟
