Understanding Variations in Our Tuna RecipesUpdated 14 days ago

When you open a tin of our delicious tuna recipes, you might occasionally notice variations in the colour of the meat, with some pieces appearing lighter and others darker. Rest assured, this is perfectly normal and a natural characteristic of whole, high-quality tuna!

Why the Colour Difference?

Both the lighter and darker tuna cuts are 100% whole meat tuna. The subtle difference in colour comes from the specific muscle tissue used. The darker cuts are typically from a muscle that is richer in myoglobin, which is a blood pigment similar to haemoglobin. Myoglobin gives the meat a naturally darker hue.

This is a common and entirely healthy occurrence in real, unprocessed tuna, and it's nothing to worry about. It simply highlights that we use authentic, whole fish in our recipes.

Our Small Batch Cooking Process:

Just like with all our meals, our tuna dishes are cooked in small batches. This artisanal approach means you might occasionally notice slight variations in taste and appearance between different batches. These natural differences are a wonderful indicator of using fresh, real ingredients and our gentle cooking methods, ensuring an authentic and wholesome meal every time.
